riding difference. With a longer wheelbase, generous additional storage, independent
suspension, disc brakes, optional electric reverse, and Roadsmith steering kit, you may never
want to return home!

Every Roadsmith trike conversion kit is built with the attention and craftsmanship needed to be a
true extension of the bike itself. Take a closer look and you will see what we mean.

The dual lateral trailing arm style independent suspension gives the rider a smooth ride and the
added benefit of very few moving parts. The trailing arms are attached through urethane
bushings that attach the arms to the frame and are designed for automotive use and in this
application should last forever. This eliminates the possibility of something wearing and
changing the wheel’s alignment. We only use “off the shelf” standard automotive parts
throughout the conversion for easy serviceability if needed.

The Roadsmith has a longer wheelbasefor several reasons.

A long wheel-based vehicle always rides better than a short. A short wheelbase trike puts the
passenger right above the rear wheels, making them more likely to feel every bump. By moving
the rear wheels back, the passenger now sits ahead of the wheels, thereby giving them a much
better ride.
The longer and wider a trike’s stance, the more stable the trike will be at highway speed.
Short wheelbase trikes crowd the passenger’s feet with the rear fenders. By having a longer
wheelbase on the Roadsmith, our fenders are further back, providing the room the passenger
requires.
The True-Track stabilizer bar, also known as an anti-sway bar, is a flexible link between the two
trailing arms. The bar uses “torsion effect” to always try to keep the trike righted or sitting square
to the ground. The beauty of the stabilizer bar is when one wheel hits a bump, the bar can flex
quickly to absorb that individual wheel’s movement, then return. Yet when the trike goes into a
corner, the bar controls “lean-out”. This is the same technology used in almost every car and
truck today. Anyone that tells you independent suspension trikes lean outward in a corner is right.
But that’s no different than any other car, SUV, or ATV. A little body roll (it’s just a little) is a good
thing. Just think if you had “no lean”. That means your trike is always square to the ground. In
fact, if you go over a 2” bump with your right wheel, the entire trike rocks up 2”. But with
independent suspension, just the wheel that hits the bump goes up. The antiquated “no lean”
(solid axle system) is only made today because it’s cheaper and easier. Technology has
improved a lot in the short history of trike conversions. We were the first to offer Independent
Rear Suspension for trikes and still have the best.
Dual 11” disc brakes are standard on the Roadsmith. These automotive brakes have more
stopping power than you can believe. One of the great features of a trike is how easily they stop,
no matter the road conditions. We also use “off the shelf” parts in all of our brake system, but you’
ll probably never wear a set out.

A trailer hitch is standard equipment on the Roadsmith. You’ll find that hauling a trailer behind a
trike is nothing like it was as a bike. With the increased foot print, added weight, and massive
brakes, you’ll truly forget it’s back there. Our receiver style hitch is integrated directly into our
frame. .

Our chassis uses multi-point attachments to the bike’s frame. This is very important because a
trike exerts forces on the frame that are different that when the bike was two-wheeler. We believe
that frame attachment is critical to a long-lasting, dependable trike conversion. Our kit bolts on at
multiple points thereby reducing the stress at any single given point. Our chassis design
includes a large steel main-frame tube that attaches down low, near where the swing arm
attached to the frame. This main-frame also attaches to the upper shock mounts of the bike. This
gives the bike’s frame a lot of added strength. The fact that the tube ties together the bike’s frame
rails makes those rails much stronger as a whole. The remainder of our chassis system is then
attached to this solidly mounted tube.

We offer an innovative Electric Reverse System that uses and electric motor which engages
directly into the rear sprocket. But simply lifting the lever with your left hand to engage the motor,
press your horn button down and it backs you right out of that tight spot.

Our Roadsmith Steering kit for the FLH and FLST’s is another unique option for your trike. This
set of triple trees change the rake angle of your front end, thereby reducing the trail. What that
means quite simply, this cuts your steering force required in half. It’s like having wider
handlebars in the since you have more leverage to turn your trike now

We manufacture a heavy duty differential using standard Dana 30 spider gears contained in a
housing that rotates on a pair of sealed bearings.   That whole assembly rotates with the
sprocket mounted on one end. The differential is filled with 80-90W gear lube that never needs
servicing. A benefit of this design is that the gears only move a when you turn the trike. The other
end of our differential mounts our innovative parking brake. Again using “off the shelf”
components for the best serviceability.

Because of our longer wheelbase design, we provide a new Gates Polychain GT2 belt. This is
the best possible belt available for use on a motorcycle. They are extremely resistant to
stretching or wearing.

We use durable CV joints.  The axles are custom made for our conversion kits, but the constant
velocity (CV) joints are from a standard automotive application. We use automotive type parts for
all of our drive train because they are designed for a much heavier load, meaning these parts will
probably last forever in this light duty application. Again using off the shelf parts for your
convenience

Our kits are designed for easy bolt-on installation.  We pre-assemble so much of the
suspension system before it leaves the factory; installation time for the technician is minimal.
Not that it should be a race to see how fast someone can just throw it together either. We just
feel ease of installation means there are less possibilities of mistakes. With our kits there is no
special aligning or measuring required.

Have Fun, Worry-Free! We offer the Best Warranty in the industry. Your trike comes with a full 3
year 1,000,000 mile warranty on the entire trike kit. With our experience producing this type of
conversion kit, we can offer this warranty because we just don't have problems.
